Royal Caribbean unveils its new ship, The Legend Of The Seas, in Malaga
The ship will set sail on an exclusive voyage from the Port of Malaga on June 29.
Malaga, June 10, 2026.—Port and destination authorities yesterday unveiled the new cruise ship “Legend of the Seas,” owned by Royal Caribbean, which will embark on an exclusive voyage from Malaga on June 29 ahead of its official European debut, scheduled for July 4.
The arrival of the Legend of the Seas marks a new milestone for Málaga as a leading cruise tourism destination and underscores Royal Caribbean’s ongoing commitment to the city, where the company has previously held launch events for its flagship ships, such as the Oasis of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, and Spectrum of the Seas.
The ship is scheduled to dock at Cruise Terminal A in the early hours of June 29, and later that day, local officials will present a commemorative plaque to the ship’s captain. The Legend of the Seas is scheduled to depart at 10:00 p.m. bound for Rome. As the grand finale to this historic day, the cruise ship’s departure will be accompanied by a fireworks display scheduled for around 10:20 p.m., which can be viewed from various points along the Malaga coastline. To mark this occasion, various promotional activities such as raffles and contests were organized via social media as a token of gratitude for the excellent welcome the public has historically extended to cruise tourism. These activities have allowed the winners to be part of the maiden voyage this coming June. Likewise, the Cruise Terminal carried out various technical adjustments to ensure the smooth operation of the cruise ship during this special port call. Among these, the mobile boarding bridges were adapted to the specific characteristics of the Legend of the Seas, thereby ensuring safe, efficient, and comfortable boarding and disembarkation operations for passengers.
The presentation was supported by local institutions, including the Port Authority, the Tourism Department of the Málaga City Council, Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning, and the Regional Tourism Office of the Andalusian Regional Government, as well as key organizations in the cruise industry, such as Malaga Cruise Port, Suncruise Andalucía, ACEMAR, and the ship’s agent, BC Cruises Services. This collaboration highlights the close partnership between the port and the destination to continue consolidating Málaga as one of the leading cruise destinations in the Mediterranean.
