Port and destination promote cruise tourism at Seatrade Cruise Global
The participation of the Malaga delegation in this major international trade show builds on the business outreach with U.S. cruise lines conducted in February.
Miami, April 17, 2026.—A delegation from the Port of Málaga and the destination attended, as it does every year, the cruise industry’s most important international event, Seatrade Cruise Global, held April 13–16 in Miami.
The event, which draws some 11,000 professionals from more than 125 countries, is considered the essential annual gathering for connecting with the sector’s leading cruise lines and operators.
Thus, the president of the Port Authority, Carlos Rubio Basabe, along with the Malaga team comprising the Tourism Department of the City Council, Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning, the Regional Ministry of Tourism and Andalusia Abroad of the Regional Government of Andalusia, and Malaga Cruise Port, with the support of the Málagaport Foundation and Suncruise Andalucía, held meetings with cruise line itinerary planners and executives to provide updates on port infrastructure and services, as well as the destination’s proposals for specific routes and tourist experiences tailored for cruise passengers.
During these meetings, which served as a follow-up to the commercial outreach conducted last February in the U.S., the recent port call and christening of the exclusive vessel ‘Four Seasons I’ were highlighted with the aim of continuing to promote luxury/premium tourism, which currently accounts for more than half of the port calls made in Málaga. As a result of these discussions, the Malaga delegation continues to consolidate its position in the international cruise market, reinforcing the confidence of major cruise lines in the destination. Participation in Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, alongside the initiatives previously carried out in the United States, enables progress in attracting new port calls and boosting homeport traffic, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth of cruise tourism and the economic impact on the city, the province, and the region as a whole.
